Andrew Marr & James Holland: The Great Generation

A moving tribute to those who defeated Nazism and rebuilt Britain, told through stories of courage, resilience and sacrifice.

Information

Andrew and James talk to Alistair Moffat about the Great Generation who won the Second World War. We celebrate the 80th anniversary of its end by celebrating them, their sacrifices, their grit, determination and dogged willingness both to defeat a manifest evil in the shape of Nazism, whatever the cost, and also to rebuild a fairer society in Britain. From the heroism of the Lancaster bomber crews who flew even though their chances of survival were less than 50% to the people of London, Coventry, Liverpool and Clydebank who carried on during periods of appalling destruction, the Great Generation should never be forgotten.
